[PRESS RELEASE] InterDigital to Demonstrate HSDPA and Adaptive Interference Management Product Solutions at 3GSM World Congress 2005
InterDigital to Demonstrate HSDPA and Adaptive Interference Management Product Solutions at 3GSM World Congress 2005
KING OF PRUSSIA, Pa.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 8, 2005--InterDigital Communications Corporation (Nasdaq:IDCC), a leading architect, designer and provider of wireless technology and product platforms, will demonstrate its innovative UMTS FDD HSDPA and Adaptive Interference Management(TM) (AIM) product solutions at 3GSM World Congress 2005 in Cannes, France, February 14-17.
InterDigital's demonstration will feature an application of streaming video over an HSDPA enabled PC card while dynamically adapting to changing channel conditions. The Company's HSDPA coprocessor for mobile terminals is compliant with the most advanced 3G UMTS standard (3GPP Release 5). The HSDPA product is a cost-effective solution designed to integrate with existing FDD physical layer chips and supports peak data rates up to 14Mbps. Offered as technology blocks for incorporation into FDD Release 99/Release 4 chips or as a separate coprocessor chip, the HSDPA solution is currently available for evaluation and FPGA platform implementation.
The Company also will showcase live demonstrations of its pioneering AIM product solutions for WLAN devices and access points, including AIM ANTENNA(TM) and AIM PERFORMWARE(TM) products. InterDigital's AIM solutions are low cost, high performance products that reduce interference, enhance network capacity and coverage, extend battery life, deliver higher average data rates and enable equipment manufacturers and semiconductor suppliers to differentiate their WLAN product offerings.
The live AIM ANTENNA product demonstration will operate over an 802.11 WLAN system in a multipath fade environment between an access point and an AIM ANTENNA enabled client device. The demonstration will show the substantial performance improvements in signal strength and data throughput that can be achieved using the AIM ANTENNA product. InterDigital's AIM ANTENNA solution combines patented beam steering software and antenna designs to deliver maximum performance to the antenna enabled subsystem in mobile terminals and WLAN devices including PC cards, USB sticks and dongles, as well as fully integrated in mobile devices.
InterDigital's live AIM PERFORMWARE product demonstration will feature multiple access points, including an AIM PERFORMWARE enabled access point, and a client device operating in an 802.11 WLAN environment. The AIM PERFORMWARE enabled access point will dynamically scan the environment, measure interference, and dynamically change channels as needed to optimize the network and improve data throughput rates. The AIM PERFORMWARE solution is an RF interference management middleware product that minimizes the impact of RF interference in WLAN networks and can be easily integrated into a Wi-Fi manufacturer's access point platform with minimal customization.
Live AIM ANTENNA and AIM PERFORMWARE product demonstrations will be held at InterDigital's off-site hospitality suite. To arrange an appointment for an AIM product demonstration, or to speak with an InterDigital representative, visit the InterDigital booth in Hall 2, Stand E34.
In addition, Dr. Alain Briancon, Chief Technology Officer, will deliver a presentation titled "Can 3GSM and WLAN Live Happily Ever After?" During his presentation, Dr. Briancon will discuss the unique opportunities and challenges of the evolution toward the integration and coexistence of mobile networks and WLANs. In his remarks he will discuss wireless technologies and solutions that serve as catalysts for enabling a seamless user experience while at the same time optimizing performance. The presentation is scheduled for Monday, February 14 at 14:00.
